J. W. Wells State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan’s Green Bay, the park has fan- tastic lake views and a 3-mile sandy beach. The park is named for a pioneer lumberman, whose children donated this land to the State of Michigan in 1925. Many of the park buildings date back to the work programs of the 1930s and 1940s. The campground is a double loop, with the sites on the lane farthest east backed up right on the lake. There’s no boat ramp at camp, but find one in Cedar River Harbor just across the mouth of said river to the north of the park. Sites are grassy, and most have at least partial shade."
