Albert E. Sleeper State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Named for the state governor and Huron County resident who signed the legislation that made Michigan state parks possible, Sleeper is very popular for its beachfront. Day-users come to swim and play volleyball on the beach, which faces north into Lake Huron at the top of The Thumb of Michigan’s mitten. This orientation allows visitors to see both the sunrise and sunset. Steps and boardwalk connect the parking lot with the beach beyond the modest dunes. The campground is located across the highway to the south of the day-use area. Divided into 2 big loops, the sites are well shaded, spacious, but not sheltered from each other."
