Mackenzie Cross-Country Ski Trail

Mackenzie Cross-Country Ski Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Set in the beautiful, rolling, hardwood hills of West Michigan, Mackenzie Trail is nearest to both downhill runs and one of northern Michigan’s major resort towns. Many of the trees in the area are old growth, planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression to replenish northern Michigan’s forests, which had been cut bare in the 19th-century lumber boom.

You’ll be cruising through stands of beech, basswood, and maple sprinkled with evergreens, including arrow-straight CCC tree plantations. Surface quality: Double track set for traditional skiing. Groomed regularly by volunteers."

MacKenzie ski trails are connected to Caberfae ski area. The trails are excellent and good for beginners. This is national forest so you have a wooded area with streams and bridges. Highly recommend it.
