Fort Custer Recreation Area Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"With the Kalamazoo River and 3 lakes, a disc golf course, plus over 25 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails through rolling meadows, wetlands, and mixed forest, there is much for the active camper to do in this 3,033-acre park. The campground is to the left (east) as you pass the contact station and is divided into 2 loops. Sites are spread out nicely, and many of them have good shade. Access to the water is not made via the camp- ground. The modern restrooms are available from mid-April through mid-October. Over 90,000 troops passed through Camp Custer in 1917, and German POWs were held here during World War II. The Fort Custer Cemetery is open to visitors daily."
