Tubbs Lake State Forest Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Beavers were the first to flood this area, and the DNR followed suit in the 1950s, building a dam to flood 1,420 acres and create Martiny Chain of Lakes on the Chippewa River. Sites are either on the mainland or an island connected by a narrow strip to the rest of the park. The park is set back from the larger lake, which has a large private campground on its south- ern shore and private development. While still on the narrow water channels, this is not a deep woods experience. Tubbs Lake has naturally occurring wild rice, a rarity these days. Wildlife viewing is a favorite pasttime here."
