Avery Lake State Forest Campground

Avery Lake State Forest Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This little lake-in-the-woods campground is as secluded as they come. Sixteen rustic sites are set up on 2 little loops in the woods, but 10 of them can fit a 40-foot RV. Three sites are walk-in. Boats have ramp access to Avery Lake just south of the camping area, and also Crooked Lake 5 miles north. Both the lakes and Thunder Bay River are good for fishing perch, bass, pike, walleye, and bluegill. All sites are first come, first served, and there is a self-pay tube for fees."

A beautiful place to camp! This rustic, secluded campground provides the feeling of camping in the forest. The sites are large and dispersed really well amongst trees, providing privacy. The grounds are exceptionally clean and well taken care of. Some of the sites are spacious enough for larger vehicles or trailers and there are a few that are just walk-in tent sites. There are hiking trails deep into the woods and the very pretty lake has a boat launch and good fishing (perch, bass, pike, bluegill, walleye). During the fall months be careful if you decide to venture into the woods because there are hunters. Wear bright clothing at the very least.
