Island Lake–Kensington–Milford Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This ride passes through many jurisdictions: a state park, regional Metropark, township park, city park, and a pleasant village. That’s a lot to experience in one ride. The parklands are some of the most popular in the region and for good reason. They offer many recreational opportunities within a beautiful green setting. Cycling is one great way to experience that, especially along these well-developed paths.

The connection to downtown Milford is an extra perk, as it’s a pleasant place to take a break halfway through the ride. Except for the short stretch of sometimes busy roadway entering and leaving Milford, the ride is car-free the whole way. There are a number of well-marked crossings and the topography rolls up and down much of the way, but not to the point where it feels like a mountain stage at the Tour. And there are pleasant views nearly everywhere, whether it’s into a woodland or out over a wide lake expanse. Some sections are out and back, but the return will offer a new perspective in the other direction."

Have been going to this park for years. The paved trail stays close to the water with great views. I appreciate that they snowplow it in the winter too. It’s my favorite place to walk the dog.
