Highland Recreation Area

Highland Recreation Area Professional Review and Guide

"This is single-track mountain biking at its technical best. Where many mountain bike areas are lauded for their smoothness and speed, Highland addresses all those skills that require prowess and technical ability. Speed takes a backseat to handling ability. All that said, it flows beautifully. The switchbacks, roots, rocks, log piles, spiky slopes, tight trees, and never-ending turns are there, but not at the expense of the ability to enjoy the line of the trail under your wheels. It’s brilliant.

The nice part about the loop system is that you can select the loops you’re up for on a given day and leave the others for another ride. This is not a novice ride, but it’s a great challenge for someone who wants to improve their technical riding skills."
