We did this as a one-way (downhill) hike from Dry Lake to Spring Creek Park with our kids, ages 3 & 7. (The 3 year old walked about half the way & rode in a child carrier the rest of the way.) This was the kids' (and probably our) favorite hike of 5 that we did in/near Steamboat. The wildflowers were abundant and beautiful (we especially loved the blue Columbine which we'd never seen before). Just wish we'd had a book to help identify all the different types. There were also tons of butterflies; in some places we had to tiptoe carefully around them because they almost covered the trail. The trail is also popular with mountain bikers, but the ones we encountered were very courteous & alert; we had no concerns of being run down.
