Ring and Blueberry Buff Trails

Ring and Blueberry Buff Trails Professional Review and Guide

"A climb through mixed woods past ledge outlooks to the 691-foot summit for distant views of the Atlantic coast. Mount Agamenticus is a monadnock, the highest point in York County and a salient landmark. This multi-use, large mountain park is owned by nine public and private organizations for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

The town of York owns the crown of 180 acres. Trails are designated for various recreational activities; a few are designated for hiking only. A lodge at the summit may be rented for family picnics, gatherings, and group programs. Special Features: views from ledges halfway up trail, summit plaque honoring the Abenaki saint Aspinquid, and mountaintop lodge."

Lot's of blueberry bushes as the name suggests, great for midsummer. Also has multiple viewing platforms on the summit as well as an old fire tower and visitor center
Very nice hike and well kept. The park service does an excellent job with trail blazing, maintenance, etc. There are several more trails on this mountain. Mostly multi-use but a few more that are hiking only. I added to this hike by continuing down the other side of the mountain, which has some great views also, and returning via Ring Trail. Overall a very pleasant, not strenuous hike. Great for beginners, ie/ my wife, to experience something more than flat terrain. I think the moderate rating is good but the local maps call Blueberry Bluff difficult which I thought was not true, and my wife agreed.
This is a nice simple trail when you don't have time for a long hike. The terrain is easy and only mildly challenging in places. The view is great on a clear day and views of Nubble Point in York and Mt. Washington are possible. It is possible to extend the hike by heading down the opposite side of the mountain and following the Ring Trail back around the mountain to the starting point.
