Sheepscot River from Wiscasset Upstream

Sheepscot River from Wiscasset Upstream Professional Review and Guide

"Paddling up the Sheepscot River avoids any squirrely currents around Davis Island and explores this pleasant stretch of river to the north of Wiscasset at the backwaters of the Marsh River. There are bald eagles along this section of the Sheepscot as well as blue herons, ospreys, and a variety of ducks and hawks.

On our first trip in this area, we watched a bald eagle hit the water and rise with a fish in its talons, a crow pestering its every move. There are few homes along the shore, and the banks are often heavily wooded. We have spotted red foxes along the shore and sat quietly listening to squirrel spats and a cacophony of bird calls."
