The Carson Trail is a self-guided nature trail that follows the Merriland River and Branch Brook. Along the way you get fine views of the extensive salt marsh along the Little River. Many shore and wading birds can be seen here. What birds are where changes as the land floods twice a day on the rising tide. The trail winds along the edge of the salt marsh in a forest of mature white pines and hemlocks. In late spring look for lady slippers in the woods.
