Unity Pond

Unity Pond Professional Review and Guide

"Unity Pond is one of those little-known places where locals go birding. Access is easy, thanks to the public boat launching area. A small beach, dock, picnic tables, and parking area make this a popular spot on weekends in summer. A prime waterfowl production area. Expect to see shovelers, Ring-necked Duck, American Black Duck, and Wood Duck.

Other large birds include Canada Goose, Great Blue Heron, American Bittern, Osprey, and Bald Eagle. Look for an active eagle’s nest atop a tall white pine on the north end of Big Island. Smaller birds include Virginia Rail, Yellow Warbler and Red-winged Blackbird. The high ground between the lake and the wetland is filled with migrating spring warblers."
