Ossipee Mountain Loop

Ossipee Mountain Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This "out of the country" loop near Portland challenges your endurance, and toward the end of the ride tests your ability as a mountain biker. A maintained gravel access road climbs up and along the side of Ossipee Mountain. You negotiate a rutted abandoned track that leads into a flat trip along smooth fast doubletrack.

Along this doubletrack you pass the site of a washed out dam where water flows below concrete walls that toppled years ago. You climb a paved road that loops you back to the trail that brought you past Ossipee Mountain. After retracing familiar terrain back to McLucas Road, you can climb up to the fire tower and enjoy the spectacular views from the top of Ossipee Mountain. Otherwise continue down the access road back to the start of the ride. Trail Surface: Gravel, paved, and unmaintained roads and doubletrack."
