Tenants Harbor and Wheeler Bay Professional Review and Guide
"This area, just southwest of Muscle Ridge Channel, offers plenty of protection from a variety of wind directions and some gorgeous scenery. However, public access is limited to the put-in at Tenants Harbor and a half-tide or better launch spot off Spruce Head. Still, this is a very enjoyable paddle with lots of tucked-away spots that just beg to be explored. If you prefer a placid trip with calm waters and little or no wind exposure, head out of the harbor and angle northeast at red nun #2. This will put you into Long Cove and the protection of a row of islands that runs from the harbor mouth to Clark Island. These are beautiful islands, all privately owned, that typically hold cormorants, several gull species, and blue herons along shores dotted with sea roses. A network of ledges is uncovered at low tide and may block passage between islands, but they offer tidal pools rich in mussels, periwinkles, and a beautiful collage of colors."
