Sandy Point Flowage

Sandy Point Flowage Professional Review and Guide

"This small pond and surrounding 543-acre parcel is managed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. The pond is an impoundment, surrounded by wetlands and forest. Waterfowl nesting boxes have been built throughout the wetland, providing homes for the once-scarce wood duck. Wild rice has been introduced and serves as food for a wide variety of waterfowl.

Easy access and the chance to get up close to nature make this a perfect spot for families with children. Some fishing can be done from the shore by the dam and boat ramp. Motels are available on U.S. Route 1 and U.S. 1A, and a campground is located on Verona Island.

Key Species: brook trout."
