Lake Saint George State Park

Lake Saint George State Park Professional Review and Guide

"A hike up a small mountain overlooking an island-studded lake. The hike ends at the Sheepscot River, a favorite spot to fish for trout. The park is located on a crystal-clear, spring-fed lake. It offers overnight camping, swimming, and fishing for brook trout, landlocked salmon, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and white perch. It's a good place to use as a base camp if you do other hikes in the Midcoast area.

The Camden Hills are nearby, as are Moose Point State Park, Tanglewood, Leo's Trail, Ducktrap Harbor, and the Belfast and Moosehead Railroad line. Camden Hills State Park would serve the purpose as well, but Lake Saint George State Park is less crowded and located on a quieter road. General location: Near Searsmont in western Waldo County across the road from Lake Saint George."
