Roque Bluffs State Park

Roque Bluffs State Park Professional Review and Guide

"The dramatic landscape of Roque Bluffs features maritime forests, cliffs, cobbles, and more than a mile of oceanfront with a long, sandy beach. Roque Bluffs State Park features 274 acres of dramatic coastal landscape on Schoppee Point, including a 0.5-mile long, sand-and-pebble crescent of beach
on Englishman Bay.

The Maine State Park Commission established the park in 1969 with proceeds from a public bond to acquire and protect the park land. The beach at Roque Bluffs is unusual on this stretch of the Maine coast, which is most often characterized by craggy cliffs and cobble shores. The erosion of the glacial moraine, just to the east, transported sediments here."
