Wight Pond

Wight Pond Professional Review and Guide

"Wight Pond has no development along its shoreline, which is amazing, given its close proximity to Penobscot Bay and millions of tourists. The pond is long and narrow and has much to offer.

If you are there in late summer, start by checking out the outlet stream by the boat access for cardinal flower, a brilliant red member of the lobelia family. We visited here with a naturalist, formerly with the New England Wildflower Society, who said this was the largest and most spectacular concentration of cardinal flowers she had seen. Prominent fish species: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and white perch."
