Middle Fowler Pond

Middle Fowler Pond Professional Review and Guide

"This hike follows a dry ridge to Lower Fowler Pond, a good-sized pond nestled against the slope of Barrell Ridge. You continue on to Middle Fowler Pond. From its shore are ?ne views of Bald Mountain, North Traveler, and Barrell Ridge. Fowler Brook ?ows over a beaver dam, out of the pond, and down a series of bedrock pillows.

The Fowler Brook Trail follows the brook upstream to Lower Fowler Pond. Mostly the trail stays on dry ledges, winding above the boggy stream. The pond rests in a mixed forest that rises to the southwest up the irregular slope of Barrell Ridge. Unlike most ponds in Baxter, the shore and shallows aren’t lined with boulders. The rich green forest comes right down to the water, creating a sharp border between the two."
