Black Cat Mountain

Black Cat Mountain Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"From the summit of Black Cat Mountain, you can see pretty much all of Baxter State Park. Across the South Branch Ponds, The Traveler’s many peaks circle around Howe Brook. The Traveler reaches south, almost touching the Turners. The jagged indigo outline of Katahdin dominates the southern horizon.

Black Cat Mountain’s open summit offers one of the most expansive views in Baxter State Park. The climb is very steep in places, but worth the effort. Along the way, there’s an overlook on the shoulder of South Branch Mountain, but no view from its summit."
