Branch Pond

Branch Pond Professional Review and Guide

"We paddled here during a warm rain that was not heavy enough to keep either us or a fishing osprey off the pond. Because it lacks a state-maintained public access, Branch Pond does not suffer from overuse.

Branch Pond is a small shallow pond, dotted with islands and festooned with marshy channels and coves to explore. Although the boat access is an easy one from a paved road, it is also at a private gristmill owned by the Dinsmore Grain Company. If you wish to paddle here, you must ask permission to launch your boat at the Dinsmore Grain Company General Store, just across the street from the boat access.

Prominent fish species: brown trout, white perch, and chain pickerel."

Great little paddle. We went from the south end of the lake to the north and back. There's lots of little islands, bays and bogs. We watched fish jump, turtles sun themselves, and a variety of birds. There is a public boat lanch. If you are at the mill with the store across from you, turn left onto the road. Go up one or two houses and there, on the left, is a long dirt road to a field. That's it!
