We parked and launched via a short carry access on the S side of Rt 16 bridge. From there we first explored the Kennebago upstream approx 1 mile upstream, exploring as many "forks to nowhere" that were available in search of good wildlife photos. Feeling a bit more adventurous, we followed the river flow downstream under the bridge to the confluence of the Kennebago and Rangeley Rivers, and then into Cupsuptic Lake. We spotted much wildlife, including several Great Blue Herons (river and lake), Bald Eagles (lakeshore), and numerous ducks and mergansers. I had a brief concern about being able to paddle upstream through the rapids section of the Kennebago just below the bridge, but by ducking into the very accessible eddies, I was able to solo paddle our Wenonah Spirit II back up to the boat launch.
