Maple Spring Trail

Maple Spring Trail Professional Review and Guide

"There’s not much difference between this and the Hadlock Brook Trail. They’re both steep, rocky routes up to the Sargent Mountain ridge, with lots of brook crossings. But the Maple Spring Trail does end a bit closer to the summit of Sargent than the Hadlock Brook Trail and goes by the double-arched Deer Brook Bridge on the carriage road rather than by the Waterfall Bridge.

Hike 0.4 mile on the Hadlock Brook Trail to reach the Maple Spring Trailhead; then head left (north-northeast). At 0.7 mile, go under the carriage road’s Deer Brook Bridge. The Giant Slide Trail bears left (north) at 0.8 mile. Ascend steeply until you reach the junction with the Sargent Mountain South Ridge Trail at 1.6 miles. Highlights: Steep, less-traveled trail up to Sargent Mountain."
