Duckpuddle Pond Professional Review and Guide
"As you paddle out from the boat access toward Duckpuddle Pond, you are greeted by alders, pickerelweed, rushes, grasses, a sea of water lilies…and mosquitoes. The passageway out to the pond is narrow and filled with aquatic plants. When we visited in mid-July, the water was cloudy from a huge pondwide algae bloom; we were unable to locate the source of the nutrient influx that might cause such a bloom, given that there is only scattered development on the pond.
Trees around this shallow pond include white pine, hemlock, paper birch, sugar and red maple, and red oak, with oak predominating along the northern shore. There are several marshy coves to explore, but save time to paddle down the beautiful outlet stream— about a four-mile round trip. Prominent fish species: smallmouth bass, white perch, and chain pickerel."
