Upper and Lower Togue Ponds and Abol Pond

Upper and Lower Togue Ponds and Abol Pond Professional Review and Guide

"It just does not get much prettier than the view of Mount Katahdin from the Togue ponds. Located just six miles to the north, Baxter Peak rises 4,670 feet from the level of the ponds.

If you happen to paddle here in the spring (ice-out is typically in early May), you will think you are in the West, with the dramatic snow-capped peak dominating the landscape. Prominent fish species: Upper Togue: chain pickerel. Lower Togue: salmon, white and yellow perch, chain pickerel, and smelt. Abol Pond: brook trout."
