Pleasant River

Pleasant River Professional Review and Guide

"The Pleasant River is just that: a pleasant stretch of water that is rich in wildlife. The salt marshes along the upper stretches of the river are home to an incredible variety of shorebirds and wading birds: plovers, yellowlegs, and sandpipers can been seen along the banks on either side of high tide; great blue herons and snowy egrets stalk the area throughout the paddling season.

At low tide you will be hemmed in by the rich mudflats and the marsh grasses, which are brilliant green in the early summer. The river widens below Bray Point and its cluster of navigational buoys, and begins to feel more coastal as you approach the upper reaches of Pleasant Bay and the islands at the mouth of the river."
