Frye Mountain

Frye Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"Frye Mountain lies across the headwaters of Bartlett Stream, which feeds the St. George River through Quantabacook Lake. The hike follows the northernmost section of the Georges Highland Path to the mountain’s mostly wooded summit. While the hike offers no great vistas, it is a relatively easy hike through a variety of forest types with a possibility of seeing wildlife.

This hike follows the Georges Highland Path (GHP) from Walker Ridge Road to its northern terminus on the summit of Frye Mountain within Frye Mountain Wildlife Management Area. From the trailhead the GHP descends gently through a hardwood forest to Bartlett Stream. This stream flows through Quantabacook Lake in Searsmont to the St. George River, making Frye Mountain one of the river’s headwaters."
