Gerrish and Cutts Island Circumnavigations

Gerrish and Cutts Island: Circumnavigations Professional Review and Guide

"A circumnavigation of Gerrish and Cutts Islands from Kittery Point shows you the contrast between protected paddling in salt marsh and creek and open-ocean paddling. The trip is tide dependent. A good place to start is at the public launch in Pepperell Cove at Cap’n Simeon’s Galley at Frisbee Point.

If you’re going clockwise, start at the top of the outgoing tide in order to get through Brave Boat Harbor before low tide. The view from Frisbee Point is beautiful. It looks toward the low, long, bald head of Fishing Island and the powerful Whaleback Light marking the Whaleback Reef and beyond to the Atlantic. The harbor is enveloped by sparsely settled Gerrish and New Castle Islands, marked by the Coast Guard lighthouse with a green beacon."
