Islesboro Ramble Professional Review and Guide
"Flat terrain, magnificent scenery, and light traffic combine to make this ride a popular one. Throw in the ferry ride, a swim or two, photo stops, and ice cream and you’ve got a whole day’s worth of fun. If time is limited, or the group includes beginners, the ride could be shortened to just the northern or the southern end of the island.
Historically, the wealthy have settled on the southern part of Islesboro. The working folks who take care of the wealthy (the landscapers, construction workers, caterers, etc.) live to the north. Although that dichotomy seems to be fading, with northern island property values on a steep upward curve, it’s still evident. On the northern part of the island, you’ll see some fine homes, but most are still rural middle class."
