Eagle Lake Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A moderate paddle on a scenic lake with mountain views and wild shorelines. Eagle Lake is the largest lake on the eastern side of Mount Desert Island and is a popular spot due to its proximity to Bar Harbor. All of Eagle Lake is part of Acadia National Park, giving it a wild shoreline with none of the cottages and camps you find on most other lakes on the island.
It's views of Cadillac and Pemetic Mountains, as well as the Bubbles, are breathtaking. It is 4.0 miles around the edge of the lake, making it possible to spend a leisurely day taking in the scenery and watching for loons, mergansers, and ospreys. Carriage roads circle the lake and connect with hiking trails, creating the opportunity to spend the whole day in the area, paddling, hiking, and biking."
