Sebascodegan Island

Sebascodegan Island Professional Review and Guide

"Enjoy a variety of environments in one trip—open ocean, rivers, finger-like coves—and the opportunity to use tidal current to your advantage.

Good tidal planning is a must for a circumnavigation. Strong currents develop in the rivers and narrow areas—particularly in Gurnet Strait and Ewin Narrows—accelerating enough to make paddling against them impossible and developing steep waves if facing opposing winds or swell. Even if you do catch accelerated currents, allow enough time to complete the trip at your usual paddling speed; a little wind can counteract much of your current assist."
