Little Spencer Mountain

Little Spencer Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"This is one of the most challenging hikes in this guide. The climb is very steep, crossing several rock slides and climbing a nearly vertical chimney. Leave your dog and small children at home, and come prepared to work hard for one of the best views in the Moosehead region. From the semi-open summit, you can see from the Bigelows to Katahdin.

New Hampshire’s White Mountains have a long tradition of seasonal residents and visitors building and maintaining trails. In Maine, with a few exceptions, this has never been
the case. The RAM Trail up Little Spencer Mountain is one of the exceptions. In the 1960s Dr. Richard A. Manson, who frequented the nearby Spencer Pond Camps, scouted several
routes to the summit of Little Spencer Mountain. The easiest
and most direct route was developed into the RAM Trail."
