Reid State Park Georgetown

Reid State Park (Georgetown) Professional Review and Guide

"Many Maine State Parks do not allow dogs between April 1 and Sept. 30, and this is one of them. But if you can get here in the off-season, it is worth it. It is a large park with many trails; some are marked and some are not. Signs all over the park indicate that pets must be on a leash; however, in the off-season you hardly meet or see anyone else, so use your discretion. Poop bags are provided at some trailheads (not all).

The trail that goes along the beach and around the outermost point has no trail markers and can be confusing to follow—it suddenly dead-ends at a picnic area or disappears into undergrowth. The beach is very pretty. Please observe the signs posted regarding preservation of the beach dunes and staying on the posted walkways. Don’t let your dogs drink too much salt water, as it can make them sick. If your dogs normally drink a lot of water on your regular walks, plan ahead and bring a portable bowl and some fresh water."
