Tunk Mountain Professional Review and Guide
"Tunk Mountain lies north of Tunk Lake, surrounded by a group of ponds. The hike to the summit passes Salmon and Mud Ponds. The return hike passes Little Long Pond. The trail climbs, steeply at times, to the open, south-facing ledges on Tunk Mountain’s summit ridge, then over the ridge to a cliff top on the mountain’s north side. The trail does not actually cross the peak, which is at the west end of the summit ridge. The hike offers fine views in every direction from the summit ridge: south and east along the coast, west toward Blue Hill and the Camden Hills, and north across the endless lowlands of the Penobscot Valley and the Downeast forest."
