Mount Waldo

Mount Waldo Professional Review and Guide

"A hike up a mountain through blueberry fields and along rocky ledges. Mount Waldo granite was once the stock in trade of a thriving industry. Although granite is no longer quarried here, it can still be seen in buildings in many eastern cities, such as New York. Mount Waldo is near Mendall Marsh.

These two hikes can easily be done in one day. There is no water, so bring your own supply if you are here on a hot day. The gate should be open; if it’s not, walk past it and go straight up the dirt road leading to the mountain. This road is bordered by blueberry land, so be cautious if you are sensitive to bee stings, since blueberry growers often import hives of honeybees to assist in pollinating the blossoms."
