Speck Pond

Speck Pond Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"At nearly 3,500 feet in elevation, Speck Pond is a beautiful tarn located between Old Speck and Mahoosuc Arm. The pond has a good swimming area near the campsite on the north shore. The Appalachian Mountain Club keeps a maintainer at the trail shelter and campsite and charges a fee for overnight use.

On the way up, you could take an optional 0.6-mile round-trip to the summit of Old Speck for views of Grafton Notch, the Mahoosuc Range, and other western Maine mountains. On the return trip, you can take the Eyebrow Trail to the Eyebrow and enjoy spectacular views from the 800-foot cliffs to the notch below. Be sure to allow plenty of time for your return trip on this long but beautiful day hike."
