Holbrook Island Sanctuary Professional Review and Guide
"Holbrook Island Sanctuary is managed as a nature and wildlife sanctuary, rather than as a park. Holbrook Island has well-maintained hiking trails, picnic tables, and considerable shore frontage, but the real stars are the plants and animals. You should easily see or hear the following waterfowl common to Holbrook Island in the course of a day’s birding: Common Loon, Horned Grebe, Canada Goose, Blue-winged Teal, Long-tailed Duck, Surf Scoter, White-winged Scoter, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, and Red-breasted Merganser.
Several different shorebirds are usually present at low tide, including Blackbellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, and Least Sandpiper. In addition to Herring Gull, look for Bonaparte’s and Great Black-backed Gull. Black Guillemot are visible from shore at various points along Holbrook’s shoreline."
