Scammon Pond Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Scammon Pond is a beautiful place to paddle and well worth exploring. There is no development, as it is maintained by the state as the Lyle Frost Wildlife Management Area. It is also unlikely that you will see many boaters here, given that the pond is shallow, weed filled, and dotted with stumps and boulders.

We would love to have seen the size of the glacier that deposited the huge granite boulders lining the shore. It is really hard to paddle here and not run into an occasional submerged stump or granite boulder. We recommend that you go slowly and enjoy the birds, plants, and animals of this quiet and scenic spot."
