Goose Rocks Beach Walk

Goose Rocks Beach Walk Professional Review and Guide

"A wide, pristine, fine-sand crescent beach overlooking nearby rocky islands, Batson’s River, and the Smith Brook estuary. The meeting of river and ocean waters in this estuary behind the beach carries valuable nutrients to plants, animals, and birds. The Batson’s River–Smith Brook estuary attracts nesting birds, including swallows that dart and swoop into holes in the silty banks.

Most species of small, sleek swallows reside near water in some form—lakes, streams, swamps, and marshes— where they feed on insects. On this end of the beach the swallows fly to and fro from their mud-hole nests in the riverbank. Special Features: Audubon piping plover and tern exclosures, riparian estuary and 2-mile ocean beach, and many seabirds on rocky islands just offshore."
