Mount Megunticook is the highest of the Camden Hills. The hike to Ocean Lookout on the Mount Megunticook Trail climbs over metamorphic sedimentary rock through a hardwood forest that comes alive with color in the fall. From Ocean Lookout the hike follows the Ridge Trail through a spruce forest to the wooded summit. On the return to the trailhead, you cross Adam’s Lookout as you descend the mountain. There are several different trails up Mount Megunticook, and you can extend your hike to include them to reach other mountains such as Mount Battie and Maiden Cliff.
