Tumbledown Mountain Loop Trail

Tumbledown Mountain Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A thrilling ascent to one of Maine’s prettiest mountain settings, with rugged cliffs, spectacular views, and a picturesque alpine tarn. The loop hike described below is difficult in sections, with steep climbing and scrambling over boulders and rock faces near the upper ridge.

Some sections are inaccessible for pets, and may not be suitable for inexperienced hikers or children. For an easier, more direct route, opt for the Brook Trail to and from Tumbledown Pond."

We went up Brook trail and then down the Loop trail. The weather was perfect for a mild-July day. It was very fun climbing through the chimney using the iron rungs. The chimney is kind of like a tight, small cave. The trail is well kept, very rugged, and challenging, for sure. There are lots of tall stones and some climbing involved. It's a tricky and rocky hike but so enjoyable. The views are gorgeous and the pond at the top is incredible.

Tumbledown Mountain Loop trail was semi-difficult for a novice-hiker like myself. Can get very steep in some spots. However, the views were astounding and well worth the climb up!
