Sebascodegan Island Bethel Point to Quahog Bay

Sebascodegan Island: Bethel Point to Quahog Bay Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"In northern Casco Bay, long, ragged peninsulas stretch to open ocean, punctuated by a few large islands and ledges. The paddling here is one of contrasts, intimate in the narrow upper bays, coves, sounds, or harbors as if on an inland lake, and exposed at the ends, with open ocean and possibly large swells or breaking waves building on strong southwest breezes across the Atlantic’s long fetch.

South of Brunswick lies Sebascodegan Island, meaning “almost through” to the Native Americans who named it. From west to east, narrow strips of land and water march north–south: Middle Bay, Harpswell Neck, Harpswell Sound, Orr’s and Bailey Islands, Quahog Bay, Sebascodegan Island, and the New Meadows River to the east. It is a delightful place to paddle."
