LaVerna Nature Preserve

LaVerna Nature Preserve Professional Review and Guide

"Enjoy a pleasant loop hike that winds through old growth forests and
along 3,600 feet of spectacular oceanfront on Muscongus Bay."

More LaVerna Nature Preserve Professional Reviews and Guides

"The Hoyt Trail drops through open woods, carpeted with ferns and spring wildflowers, to the marshy Meadow Brook. The Ellis Trail passes through an oak-pine forest to the shore with an unobstructed view of the open sea.

The shore is steep, irregular bedrock all the way around Browns Head Cove to Leighton Head. A side trail leads out onto the bedrock, thin upturned layers of slate. The Tibbitts Trail follows farther south along the coast among spruce. Look for the osprey nest near the trail. After one last side trail out onto the rock, the trail turns inland and climbs away from the shore."
