Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Holbrook Island Sanctuary includes the island and land on Cape Rosier—where the hikes are. There are eight short hikes in the park. The three combined here are all off Back Road. Each offers a short hike through a different habitat. The Mountain Loop circles around and then climbs a rocky hill with some views. The Backshore Trail goes through old estate fields to a rocky beach and a homesite. The Goose Falls Trail follows the rocky shoreline with views of and across Penobscot Bay.
The Goose Falls Trail follows along the edge of the bay from Goose Falls along the narrow channel between Cape Rozier and Holbrook Island. There are views across Penobscot Bay of distant islands and the Camden Hills. Farther along the hike you can see Castine peeking out between islands across the Bagaduce River—which looks more like a bay than a river. There are several spots along the hike where you can get down onto the rocky shore and explore the flats and pools at low tide, or just enjoy the views."
