Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Biking in Maine doesn’t get any better than this. Brooklin, the tiny village near the southern end of the peninsula, posts a sign welcoming visitors to the “boatbuilding capital of the world.” Visitors sometimes ask whether the folks in Bath (home of Bath Ironworks) might dispute that title. Visitors are solemnly assured that Brooklin is indeed a more important center for boat building.

“They build ships in Bath. In Brooklin, we build boats” — wooden sailboats and yachts for customers worldwide. There will be plenty of opportunities to see examples of these magnificent sailboats, as much of this ride is close to the water and there are stops at harbors where examples of the Brooklin boatbuilders’ craft are proudly moored."

Beautiful, scenic route well-worth the burning quad muscles requisite for completing this beautiful hilly coastal route.
