Bald Mountain Pond

Bald Mountain Pond Professional Review and Guide

"The north end of Bald Mountain Pond is part of the Maine Public Reserve Land system, and the Appalachian Trail skirts the northern shore. This is a wild place in a beautiful setting, with aptly named Bald Mountain dominating the western skyline. Unfortunately, it draws large crowds on summer weekends—although fewer people camp here than at nearby Austin Pond.

Beautiful, heavily forested islands enhance the picturesque nature of Bald Mountain Pond. The surface in places is dimpled with hundreds of granite boulders; unfortunately for boat hulls, many of these rocks are barely submerged. Go cautiously when paddling near shore and when exploring the many inlets."
