Roaring Brook Campground Professional Review and Guide

"Roaring Brook Nature Trail is a short loop through the woods across Roaring Brook from the campground. The trail skirts the edge of a good-sized raised peat bog. You can ?nd pitcher plants and sundews growing in the sphagnum moss. From two bog board viewpoints, you have ?ne views of South Turner Mountain and Katahdin.

From high on Baxter’s many mountains, you can look out across the forested country and see ponds, streams, and treeless areas that shine emerald green in the sunlight. These green areas are raised peat bogs. You could walk past one on a trail—a 100 feet through the woods—and never know it. Roaring Brook Nature Trail visits one."
