North Traveler Mt. Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"The Traveler is as long and difficult a hike as Katahdin—the 10-mile loop climbs nearly 4,100 feet. Because of the difference in geology (Katahdin is granite and The Traveler is rhyolite), the two mountains feel very different. The hiking experience is very different, too.

The Traveler is never crowded; most days you have the mountain almost to yourself. Even though all of The Traveler is part of a huge mass of rhyolite, laid down more than 400 million years ago, the four peaks the hike crosses feel and look unique. Much of the hike is spent on open slopes and summits with views in every direction and blueberries everywhere."
