Nahmakanta Lake to Abol Bridge

Nahmakanta Lake to Abol Bridge Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A short floatplane flight from Millinocket brings you to the trailhead for this wilderness hike. The trip covers the top quarter of the One Hundred Mile Wilderness, which stretches from Abol Bridge south to Monson. Nahmakanta Lake offers good swimming at several points near the A.T.

The lake’s wild surroundings make the cold swim all the more enjoyable. The only two climbs along the route—Nesuntabunt Mountain and Rainbow Ledges—have some steep sections, but are relatively easy and reward you with good views of Katahdin and the surrounding lake country."
